Gingerbread Latte Recipe
Our recipe for making the cosiest, café-quality coffee at home. Think warming winter spices in a sweet and creamy latte.
How to Make a Gingerbread Latte
Winter isn't all bad: it's the season of gingerbread lattes. With warming winter spices, our sweet and creamy gingerbread latte is festive coffee at its best, and it's super easy to make, which comes in handy when it's so cold outside just the idea of going to a café makes you want to dive under the duvet.
You can tailor this gingerbread latte recipe to your taste, whether that's using a plant-based milk alternative or a sugar-free sweetener.
This is our step-by-step guide to making a great gingerbread latte at home.
Gingerbread Latte Ingredients
What You'll Need for One Serving:
-
2 Grind compostable coffee pods or two shots of espresso (around 100ml of strong freshly brewed coffee) using our ground or whole bean coffee. We'd recommend using our signature House Blend for this recipe.
-
½ tsp ground ginger, plus extra to serve
-
¼ tsp cinnamon
-
Pinch of ground nutmeg
-
¼ tsp vanilla extract
-
300ml whole milk, or plant-based alternative (oat milk works great in a gingerbread latte)
-
Whipped cream (however much your heart desires)
Gingerbread Latte Recipe
Our simple instructions for making your favourite festive coffee.
- Prepare a double shot of coffee using our compostable, Nespresso® compatible coffee pods, or freshly brew around 100ml of strong coffee using your preferred brewing method (ours is a Cafetière) with our coffee beans or ground coffee. Place in a tall glass or tall mug.
- In a bowl, mix together the spices, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- In a pan alongside the sugar and spice mix, heat 75ml of the milk and whisk until the sugar has dissolved. Gently whisk in the remaining milk in 50ml portions until mixed well, then heat through until steaming.
- Add the spiced milk to your brewed coffee, and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground ginger. If you want this to be extra special, which hopefully you do, we love to add a mini gingerbread man or some crushed gingerbread biscuits on top, too.
How Many Calories in a Gingerbread Latte?
The calories in a gingerbread latte will vary depending on your choice of milk, cream, and sugar. Our recipe contains around 280 calories, but you can reduce this by cutting down on the whipped cream or gingerbread biscuits, choosing semi-skimmed milk, or using a zero-calorie sweetener in place of sugar.
What Does a Gingerbread Latte Taste Like?
Basically like Christmas in a cup: think warming winter spices like ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg, with a bit of sugary sweetness and a creamy texture. It's an unrivalled cosy treat, perfect for when the weather gets colder.
