Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte Recipe

The iced version of one of our all-time café favourites. Fruity, sweet, and creamy, this Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte is a summer staple.

When the temps go up (and even when they don't, because we live in the UK and heat is a rarity), an Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte is one of our all-time favourite pick-me-ups. Fresh strawberries give this drink a tart, fruity sweetness that goes so well with the more earthy, nuttier flavours of our ceremonial-grade matcha

It's one of the most popular orders in our Grind cafés and coffee shops, but it's also super easy to make at home. It's lightly sweet, seriously refreshing, and it also looks really really pretty.

Matcha contains about ⅓ of the caffeine in coffee and its chemical composition means that you get an energy boost that lasts for hours, without a caffeine crash. It’s one of the many, many reasons we love whisking up matcha at home or drinking it on-the-go during a busy day.

Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte Ingredients

Makes 1 serving:

1g Grind matcha powder

50ml hot water

3 strawberries, finely chopped

1 tsp sugar

150ml milk or plant-based alternative

How to Make an Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte

A step-by-step guide.

  1. Prepare your matcha by whisking 1g matcha powder with around 50ml filtered hot water (not boiling water, which will burn the matcha). The mixture should be smooth and consistent, without any lumps.
  2. Place the strawberries and sugar in a bowl and use a fork to combine, lightly mashing the strawberries into a puree.
  3. Place the strawberry puree at the bottom of a tall glass, fill halfway with ice, then pour in enough cold milk to fill the glass ⅔ of the way full.
  4. Top with the matcha and stir to combine.

How Many Calories in an Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte?

The calories in your homemade iced strawberry matcha latte will vary depending on the ingredients you use. For example, using whole milk will bring this recipe to around 170 calories, whilst semi-skimmed milk will bring it to around 140 calories. Using more sugar will also bring the calories up slightly.
