Things to do in the UK in Summer: Snoopy's Top 10 Picks
Looking for some summer adventures in the UK? We asked Snoopy for some ideas and interpreted his barks very wisely.
The Summer of Snoopy Bucket List
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Peanuts and its iconic beagle, we've teamed up to create a special edition collection inspired by Snoopy's summer adventures.
The Grind x Peanuts range is made to be portable, so you can take your tin, mugs, cafetière, t-shirt, and cap on all your adventures.
While on the move, whether you're camping, hiking, or on a road trip, you can store your favourite coffee in your Grind x Peanuts Tin, brew it in your Grind x Peanuts Cafetière, and drink it from your Grind x Peanuts Enamel Mugs. We'd obviously recommend you bring along our Grind x Peanuts T-Shirt, Cap, and Picnic Cooler Bag, too.
Not sure what those adventures will be yet? This is our (and Snoopy's) guide to the top 10 things to do in the UK this summer.
Best 10 Things to Do in the UK This Summer
From beautiful hikes and legendary landmarks to our very own Summer of Snoopy Puppuccino Bar, these are Snoopy's top UK summer recommendations.
1. Take a road trip along the coast of Isle of Arran in Scotland.
One of the most popular, and one of the most beautiful, Scottish Islands, the Isle of Arran has an incredible coastline with stunning scenery and amazing attractions.
Begin your 70-mile drive in Brodick, where you can explore Brodick Castle and Country Park, before heading south to see Lamlash Bay and Hoy Isle, where you’ll see wildlife like Eriskay ponies and Saanean goats and take in breathtaking views.
You can see Glenashdale Falls and Giants' Graces, visit the famous whisky distillery in Lochranza, and end your trip on the shores of Sannox Bay.
2. Go surfing, swimming, and sunbathing in Newquay, Cornwall.
The UK might not scream “dream beach holiday destination”, but the golden sand beaches in Cornwall are pretty amazing. Snoopy recommends heading to the surfing capital of the UK, Newquay, to ride the waves, go for a dip, and nap in the sun. Just stay safe by wearing SPF and your new favourite cap.
There are loads of places for you to hire surfboards and book a lesson, and it’s open to all abilities.
3. Visit the famous Stonehenge in Wiltshire.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site that continually brings in visitors from all over the world, Stonehenge dates back to around 5,000 years. Snoopy loves it for the mystery: we still don’t know what the original purpose of Stonehenge was.
The must-visit attraction hosts a bunch of events like pop-up planetariums and archaeological digs, and there’s an exhibition showcasing some archaeological treasures.
4. Hike up Mount Snowdon in Wales.
The highest summit in Wales, Mount Snowdon boasts incredible views. There are six routes to choose from depending on your ability, with the Llanberis path being the most beginner-friendly, and all are pretty breathtaking.
5. Bathe like a Roman in Bath.
One of the UK’s prettiest and historically-rich cities, Bath is famous for its grand, sweeping crescents and for being home to an ancient Roman bath that lies right in the centre of the city. It still flows with natural hot water and you can wander around the historic site before heading to Thermae Bath Spa for your own chance to try our Bath’s waters.
6. Explore London's free museums.
London is home to incredible world-famous museums and galleries, and the majority of them have permanent exhibitions that are free to visit. Snoopy loves staring at the dinosaur skeletons in the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, where you can also visit the Science Museum and the V&A.
You can then head to the National Gallery, Tate Britain, and Tate Modern to see some of the world’s most celebrated artworks, and to the British Museum to see historical artefacts from all over the world.
7. Visit the Edinburgh Fringe.
Every August, Scotland’s capital is taken over by comedians and performances for a month of shows for the world’s largest arts festival. You’ll find a mix of first-timers and big-name stars and see the sights of Edinburgh while you’re at it.
8. Go seal spotting at Blakeney Point in Norfolk.
England’s largest grey seal colony resides in Blakeney Point, and spotting them is one of the best things to do in summer in the UK.
You can hop on one of the many boat tours in the area to get the best view of the seals, and of the beautiful Norfolk coast.
9. Picnics in the park and al-fresco dining.
An understated but tried-and-tested UK summer activity: a picnic. The UK is home to thousands of parks, even in bustling cities like London and Manchester, and there’s nothing like a picnic in the sun with your friends.
If you're less into bugs and grass, the middle ground is a bit of al-fresco dining at your favourite restaurant. Lucky for you, many of our Grind cafés have outdoor seating where you can enjoy seasonal drinks, cocktails, and a fresh food menu.
10. The Summer of Snoopy Puppuccino Bar.
We saved the best til last: from Thursday 3rd July - Saturday 5th July, we’ll be hosting The Summer of Snoopy Puppuccino Bar at our Shoreditch Grind café to celebrate our new collaboration with Peanuts.
Coffee lovers and their dogs can come escape for a little summer adventure and a free puppuccino. And you’ll be able to shop our new Grind x Peanuts collection there, too.
