In 2023, we set up our own charitable foundation, the Better Coffee Foundation®, as a commitment to undoing the damage caused by the global coffee industry. Now in 2024, we’re doing more - recovering ocean-bound plastic for every pod, can, and cup we sell.
Waving Goodbye to Ocean Plastic
In partnership with Ocean Co., we’re tackling the ocean-pollution crisis by rescuing the equivalent weight of ocean-bound plastic with every coffee pod, iced coffee can, and cup of coffee we sell. In 2023, we recovered 64,000kg of ocean-bound plastic (that’s around 42,800,000 pods’ worth of plastic, which is quite a lot of pods).

Why Ocean Plastic?
Less than 10% of plastic waste is recycled globally. The rest is discarded, ending up in landfills and the ocean, killing millions of marine species and endangering marine life. We're helping to collect it before it has a chance to do its damage. Without action, there will be more plastic than fish in our waters by 2050.

The Planet’s Favourite Pods
Our coffee pods are made from plants, meaning they’re plastic-free and home-compostable, and an alternative to the millions of plastic and aluminium pods that end up in landfills each day. Our pods will disappear without a trace, keeping the ocean clean.
Not a pod person? We haven’t forgotten about you: our whole bean and ground coffee comes in compostable packaging, too.
It’s crucial to us that all our coffee is ethically sourced from small-scale farms that protect the environment.
