AT HOLBORN GRIND
As I'm sure you're aware its been a crazy week of London Fashion Week spreading across central London. This week on 'Behind the Grind' we jumped on the central line and visited Jack our supervisor and trainee head barista at Holborn Grind in the heart of fashion week to talk to him about his work inside and outside the Grind as a fashion photographer. Check him out!
So tell us a bit about your GRIND journey!
Grind was creating a lot of buzz a few years back and it seemed that it was popping up everywhere I looked. After doing a whole lot of stalking by visiting the cafe-bars and on Instagram paired with my over confidence and the eagerness for a new job pushed me to send a Twitter dm to David our CEO. Over a year later I've done almost every role in every site across the Grind; but Holborn is my main home.
Sounds like you've had fun so far! What's your favourite thing about working there?
The vibe and the people; loud tunes mixed with the rush makes for a great workday. Also, the top-notch coffee and smashed avo helps, especially when it's only a walk away from my flat.
Ok, we really want to get to know you, tell us something we don't know about you?
I'm a photographer! For the past 5 years I've been documenting Fashion Week backstage across the world, sometime in the near future I will publish the work into a book but for now, it stays on the gram @jack_taris.
Don't know about you, but this gloomy weather has got us wishing for far away places... what faraway place would you love to visit and why?
Anywhere with a beach, I'm sure I could last a few weeks before I'd be drawn back to the city.
If you could only take 3 things with you, what would they be?
An Aeropress (with some coffee & water), music and my camera of course, thats technically 5 things right? Oops.
Back to the Grind (see what we did there) how many coffees do you reckon you’ve made in your life?
A lot! I've been making coffee for the past 5 years so I'd hate to do the maths. If someone is a mastermind mathematician out there DM me and let me know, that would be jokes.
Do you think it's true what they say about coffee being the perfect hangover cure?
From an experienced point of view I 100% stand by this. Top tip is to have a green juice and some avo on the side, or an espresso martini - your call.
If you could invent your own coffee what would you call it?
Sloffee - because sloths and coffee are the best things in the world.
